A natural and solidarity commitment
CENSO is a sustainable development approach for the French lavender and lavandin essential oils sector. It is supported by CIHEF with the participation of FranceAgriMer
This approach stems from a sustainable development Charter developed on the basis of a partnership with FranceAgriMer and ’AFNOR’: one of the points of this Charter involves product certification and a production method which a greater transparency to increase the trust shown by the interested parties.
Censo is based on specifications designed for the first links in the sector: farms, distilleries, agricultural cooperatives and first buyers.
Compliance with the principles set out in these specifications and exemplary traceability makes it possible to obtain ‘Censo’ lavender and lavandin essential oils. The first ‘Censo’ products have been available since the 2010 campaign.
Censo is also a progress approach: its aim is to help operators respect the requirements of the specifications which will continue to evolve.
At present, communication tools are being developed in order to disseminate information on this sustainable development approach, with the upstream sector (farmers, distillers, etc.) and in the downstream sector (processors, perfumers, etc).
