The steering committee

The steering committee is made up of the persons in charge of the lavender and lavandin essential oils sector. During the meetings with the members of the steering committee, the main Censo orientations are proposed, discussed and validated.

Audits

All the audits of farms, distilleries, farm cooperatives and first buyers are carried out by CIHEF.

100% of the operators are audited. Only those who meet the major compliance criteria can affix the Censo logo to their products from the following harvest.

A farm cannot be classified as in compliance unless the person in charge has signed the commitment to the approach on the one hand, and on the other, if the site where the products from this farm are distilled is also committed and in compliance with the Censo approach.

Talks are in progress for audits to be carried out in the near future by an independent verification organization.

Follow-up of audits

Follow-up is important as it makes it possible to check that the operators committed to the Censo approach are meeting the requirements of the specifications. The annual audit plan below was validated by the steering committee in June 2009.

The material follow-up

After each distillation campaign, farmers and distillers are asked to ensure the traceability of the new essential oils produced. This is done by means of labels to identify the containers of products from the Censo approach but above all by means of an audit grid summarizing the follow-up of all the products and by CIHEF.

This grid is compared first with the tonnage declared by the farmers required by CIHEF in order to check that the quantities declared correspond.

Subsequently, the declared quantities of essential oils are checked at the level of procurement by agricultural cooperatives and first buyers.
